Here are Rich Hataway's original directions intended for capturing
locaton coordinates while at Bing maps using a Microsoft Word
macro program.

I have not tested his program as I do not use Microsoft Word.

Gary,

On your excellent Web site you say, "I haven't figured out, as
yet, how to get Bing Maps to tell me the coordinates of a location
or a push pin, but I am working on it. If anyone out there has
the solution, please let me know."

I do that using macros in MS Word. Here's the workflow I use to
create longitude and latitude, separated by a tab; that lets me
copy and paste the coordinates directly into a csv POI file. The
macro can be adjusted if one wants the long/lat to appear in some
other format (say, latitude, comma, longitude).

When I get going on this, the process takes about 15 seconds per
set of coordinates.

1. When you find your location on the Bing map, zoom in as far as
possible and right-click the point for which you want coordinates.

2. When the drop-down list appears, select "Center map here."

3. At the lower left of the screen are 6 icons. Click the one
that looks like an envelope.

4. That opens a "Share" window in which a URL is highlighted.
Copy that URL to your Clipboard.

5. Paste the URL to a Word document.

6. Run the macro, called "BingMaps_LongTabLat."

7. The macro will pull the longitude and latitude out of the URL,
and will add a tab between them.

8. Copy and paste the longitude, tab, and latitude to your csv or
xls file.

Text of my macro appears below.
